      The new GCC Short Form, is suitable for “Minor Works” projects that do not need extensive detailed contract conditions as is often the case in larger, more complex projects, extending over long time frames.

      “Minor Works” projects are not only those which cost little, or are repetitive, or are of short duration, or are confined to only engineering or only building, or the design is fully complete, but are those projects which are usually characterised by one or more, or a combination of these criteria.

      The GCC Short Form has been developed from the full GCC 2015 document to facilitate compatibility.

      It contains the same sequence of Sections as GCC 2015, but significantly fewer clauses and sub-clauses that have either been condensed or omitted. Read more

      The last day to take the current version of the exam is on the 30th June 2020

      Project management continues to develop in new directions, and PMP-certified leaders are at the forefront of this exciting evolution - equipped with a diverse skill set to deliver successful project outcomes with the right approach for each project.

      The PMP is evolving just like the profession - and the new exam will focus on three new domains:

      The new standard Organizational Project Management (OPM) provides a framework to align portfolio, program and project management practices with organizational strategy and objectives. It’s a valuable tool for organizations looking to better meet their strategic objectives regardless of approach and where they are in the value delivery landscape.

      This OPM standard provides guidance to organizational management, PMO staff, and practitioners on these topics. It spans the value delivery landscape and can be used with all approaches to project delivery—including waterfall, agile, hybrid and next practices (those future approaches yet to be determined).

      This standard is one of Project Management Institute’s (PMI)®latest foundational standards and it is aligned with A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) Sixth Edition and other PMI® standards.


      Data from the new 2019 Pulse of the Profession® survey show organizations wasted almost 12 percent of their investment in project spend last year due to poor performance number that’s barely budged over the past five years.

      It’s time to add a new ingredient to that old formula, especially given the fundamental shift in how work is getting done. Few jobs of the future will revolve around a bulleted list of static responsibilities. More and more, people in all roles will be hired to manage a portfolio of projects, and increasingly, those projects will be tied to technology.

      TQ, or technology quotient, is a person’s ability to adapt, manage and integrate technology based on the needs of the organization or the project at hand. Though the term has been used for a few years, it’s taking on a new urgency as people and companies search for digital sustainability  - the capacity to adapt to the constant whirl of change brought on by advances in technology. Coupled with the changing nature of work from a “job for life” to “portfolio of projects”, we see an even greater demand for TQ combined with project management, or PMTQ.

      For anyone charged with making strategy reality in a world constantly being remodeled by tech, PMTQ will be the must-have, make-or-break skill set.

      Hurricane Katrina decimated thousands of buildings in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, in 2005, including a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility that served approximately 40,000 military families. The hospital, also where world-class research was conducted and more than 500 medical students were training to become physicians, suffered so much damage that it had to be replaced.

      So in 2006, the U.S. Congress authorized funding for a new 148,645-square metre regional referral centre. Dubbed Project Legacy, the 10-year, US$1 billion project delivered an eight-building, 12 hectare campus in the heart of New Orleans. In a city submerged and beleaguered by a deadly storm, rebuilding a critical healthcare centre became a symbol of recovery

      PMI Project Of the Year Winner 2018


      The Injaka Bridge in Mpumalanga, South Africa, collapsed on 6 July 1998, causing the death of 14 people (including the designer of the bridge, Ms Marelize Gouws) and injuring 19 others. Most of them were standing on the bridge deck as it was being launched

      The owner of the works was the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry.  VKE Consulting Engineers were appointed by the owner to design the bridge to span the Ngwaritsane River, near Bosbokrand.  The contractor, Concor Holdings (Pty) Limited, was appointed to design the temporary works from design information obtained from VKE and to build the structure. Read more
